Phew! I'm finally back.
I've been juggling a number of projects lately (some of which I'll write about here in the near future), and perhaps because I've been preoccupied, I've also been suffering from an unrelenting bout of writer's block--or more precisely, "blogger's block." And then just look at what I found outside today! Sometimes, when you can't find inspiration to write (or draw, or paint...), all you need to do is step outdoors. Springtime, especially, has a way of striking a creative match inside of us, don't you think? Photographing these silky, cheerful daffodils brought me back to a classic poem that really is the essence of springtime:
Daffodils
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

That poem is beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Also, keep meaning to mention - we checked out "The Curious Garden" from the library and my boys absolutely loved it! Thanks for the recommendation.

Here is a quote from Mark Twain to ponder: "The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one."
I think this applies to writer's block pretty well, no?

Great--glad they liked it! It is a cute book and not too heavy-handed with the environmental message.

Yes, it certainly does! I didnt know that Mark Twain was a pseudo life coach type! Wise words from a wise man.
