- As far as Disney Princesses go, I've always cringed at the story of Cinderella--especially at the end, where she forgives her wretched, bullying stepsisters and gets them happily married off to the Prince's pals--so I could relate to this post completely: Why I Will Never Invite Cinderella to My Daughter's Birthday Party.
- I've got a soft spot for a good dog story, and this one hits the spot: Life Interrupted by a Dog.
- I loved this message from Gillian at One Pair of Shoes at a Time about feeling lighter and happier with fewer things: More, Please.
- My new photographer-friend (courtesy of my Uncle Gene) documented his stunningly beautiful trip through 2013, complete with images from Bulgaria, Greece, an Edwardian estate in Surrey (which revs up the Jane Austen fan in me), and my absolute favorite: an up-close meeting with an Amur Leopard: 2013: A Year in Pictures.
- If you're looking for a good read longer than a blog post, I just finished the short novel The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and as with any really good book, I heavily underlined much of it. It's chock-full of profound yet simple lessons about life and how to live it well. Is there anyone alive who can't use more advice on that topic?
