So, here's what I like about the Japanese Maple:
- It's gorgeous. (That's obvious.)
- Its leaves are completely different for three seasons out of the year. In late autumn, they're this rich, rich red--like a maraschino cherry. When they fall to the ground, the grass becomes a lush, red carpet.
- It doesn't "freak out" when there's a frost. It's pretty hardy.
- It's not so big that it makes you worry it's going to crush your house in a storm.
- It's one of my favorite nature photography models (and I have the hundreds of pictures to prove it!).
Cheers to you, Japanese Maple!
