Due to a big electrical storm that thundered through town on Monday night, we were without Internet service for five days. Being set adrift in a hyper-connected world was, in turns, frustrating and liberating. Frustrating because I was in the middle of teaching one photography course and preparing for the next one. Liberating because we weren't tied to our machines.
The cable guy couldn't get to our home until late Friday afternoon, so each day, I was working from the town library. It made me feel like I was right back in college again, piling all of my notebooks and textbooks at a desk in a cubicle, deep within the stacks.
This pretty wildflower was along the edge of the woods at the library. Before I settled in each day at my temporary desk, it felt good to simply wander.
